With concerts in Sofia and an accompanying festival program in Dolna Banya and Botevgrad, in the period from October 6 to 8, 2023, the Third International Choir Festival "The Boys are Singing" is to be held.
Admission is free for all five concerts, including the gala concert on October 8.
Last year in Bulgaria, again in October, within the framework of the only festival of its kind in Europe, boy choirs from Iceland, the Czech Republic and Mexico visited. A second edition of the festival followed in Iceland, where Sofia Boys' Choir with conductor Prof. Adriana Blagoeva was a guest from the Bulgarian side, their visit coincided with the celebration of their 55th anniversary since the creation of the choir. This week, from October 6 to 8, the third edition of the festival will take place with the participation of choirs from Bulgaria, Belgium and Switzerland.
The concerts contain a varied and attractive program with music from all over the world. Free access to the events will allow the audience from Sofia and from the two smaller cities to touch choral singing in its various timbres and ways of making music. The boys' choirs will have the opportunity to do a joint workshop and flash mob program in our country. As a final result, they will be able to interact with each other and build a common performance program with which to perform at the gala concert of the festival. The two common works that will be performed in the Concert Hall of the National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" are Anthem of the festival "Viva la musica", written by Prof. Adriana Blagoeva and Stefan Valdobrev's beautiful song "The boys are singing", especially composed for the festival.
